SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2-5pm
Multidisciplinary artist Danielle Bleackley’s art practice is characterized by a deep curiosity of the body; its intrinsic link to language, the ephemerality of its movements, and its capacity to carry an archive of experience over time.
The workshop includes a short visual presentation to inspire, and making begins with art journaling prompts, followed by a soundtrack and guided instruction.
With a strong emphasis on introspective process, each drawing will be a record of the intuitive gestures and movements of the body; and with this, there is the letting go of the need to draw something representational. Participants will be encouraged to work independently and intuitively and will experience the possibilities that emerge when we release control in creative exploration, and instead slow our process, quiet the mind and embrace our intuition.
‘Everything that has ever happened to us – our birth, the fall from a tree at age six, our thoughts and feelings, what we eat, the climate in which we live – is inscribed upon our body, creating a living archaeological record. – Donna Farhi
